These are just some of the commonly used terminology in the sport of Touch.
Acting half/Dummy half: the player who takes possession of the ball behind the player who performs the rollball. There is no designated dummy half anyone on the team can take up this role but this player cannot be Tagged while in the possession of the ball or a penalty will be awarded to the defending team also this player cannot score a touchdown/try.
Attacking Team: the team that has possession or is gaining possession of the ball.
Defending Team: the team without the ball.
Forward Pass: pass in a position or direction towards a team's own attacking score line. A player in possession cannot pass, flick, knock, throw or otherwise propel the ball in a forward direction this will result in a penalty.
Full Time: the expiration of the normal time allowed for play.
Mark (For a Touch): is the position where the attacking player is at the time of the touch.
Mark (For a Tap): is the centre of the halfway line for the commencement or recommencement of play; or the position where a tap is awarded as a result of infringement.
Offside: in a position forward of the ball for an attacking player and in a position liable to penalty for a defending player.
Onside: in a position whereby a player may legitimately become involved with play.
Penalty: is the action taken by the referee in awarding a penalty tap when a player or team infringes the rules of the game
Rollball: is the normal act of bringing the ball into play following a touch or a change of possession. this is done by placing/rolling the ball between the players' legs facing the defending sides' try line.
Tap: is the method of commencing the game, recommencing the game alter half-time and after a touchdown has been scored. It is also a method of recommencing play when a penalty is awarded. This is done by placing the ball on the ground and touching/tapping it with your feet then pick the ball up.
Touch/tagged: is contact on any part of the body between a player in possession and a defending player. A touch includes contact on the ball, hair or clothing and may be made by a defending player or by the player in possession
Touchdown/try: is the result of an attacking player, except the acting half, placing the ball on or over the team's attacking score line.

"No Freezing" on the tryline:-
When the defending team is defending on their try line or within five metres of their try line the defending team must move forward in an attempt to make a touch. Once a touch is made the defenders may move back to the tryline.
Points for clarification:-
It does not matter how slowly the defending team moves forward but they MUST move forward. They should continue to move forward until a touch is made, no matter how far the attacking team may retreat back up the field. The referee should warn the defending team to move forward to make a touch and penalise them if they don’t, however the referee should not penalise a player who is nowhere near the immediate play i.e. play is near the right wing and the left winger has not moved forward properly. If the play goes over towards his side he should move forward correctly though.
If an attacking player with the ball feints, baulks or dummies immediately in front of a particular defender then that defender can’t be penalised if he stops moving forward while the attacker is performing those antics in front of him.

Like many other sports, Touch uses many colourful phrases and slang to describe a move, an event or play. Below are some commonly used slang and phrased in touch and their meaning:
Initiate a touch: A tackle made by the attacking play by voluntarily touching/tagging the defensive player.
Dump: as in "Take a Dump" or "Dump that ball". A quick play-the-ball to further attacking opportunities from the ensuing play.
Scoot: as in "scoot from acting half" or "Dump and scoot". The player with the ball initiates a touch and quickly rolls the ball, allowing a second player to pickup the ball and run from acting half.
Blind or Blind side: as in "attack the blind" or "use the blind side".
Snap: A term used when an attacking player beats a defending player in a one on one situation, usually resulting in the attacking player scoring a try. Makes a "fool" of the defensive player.
Phantom touch/tagged: a defensive player claiming a touch when no touch had in fact been made. Frowned upon by the vast majority of players.
Ruck: a basic attacking move intended to promote the ball down the field rather than specifically resulting in a touchdown.
Fade: an angled run forwards and towards the wing/sideline in an attempt to draw defenders out of position.
Squeeze: a type of zone defence used to force attacking players to move the ball to the wings to gain and/or take advantage of an overlap (by which time the defence should have re-aligned itself).
Switch: a "scissors" move between two attacking players.
Wrap: a variation on the switch move involving an additional pass back to the original ball carrier.
